Privacy
Short version: there are no accounts, no cookies and no ads. Your puzzle progress stays in your own browser. If you host or join a live team game, a little more applies; see ImagineTechVerse Live.
What’s stored in your browser
The site uses your browser’s localStorage to save:
- Puzzle progress: the letters you’ve entered, your timer, hints used and whether you’ve solved it.
- Your stats: how many puzzles you’ve solved and your current streak.
- Theme: if you’ve chosen light or dark mode.
This data never leaves your device. Clear your browser’s site data to delete it. If your browser blocks storage (some in-app and private browsers do), the puzzles still work but progress won’t be saved.
Analytics
To see which puzzles people enjoy and how hard they are, the site counts a few anonymous events for each puzzle: a view, starting it, solving it (with the number of hints and the time taken), using Check or Reveal, clicking a share button, and opening the suggested next puzzle after solving. Views and solves also note the general kind of place the visit came from, such as “a LinkedIn post”, “WhatsApp”, “a QR code”, “a search engine” or “direct”, never the actual web address. These are only added to totals per puzzle and per day. Nothing identifies you: no cookies, no IP address or device ID is stored, and nothing you type is sent. The counts are stored on Amazon Web Services and seen only by the site owner.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to Across & Down, our newsletter, your email address is stored by Beehiiv, the service that sends it. It's only used to send you the newsletter, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Sharing
When you use a share button, you go to that network (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, WhatsApp or email) and their privacy policy applies. Shared links are short links (like imaginetechverse.com/p/aws-2/li) that say which network they were shared on, so we can see which networks bring people in. They contain no personal information, and the tags are removed from the address bar once the page opens.
ImagineTechVerse Live (for teams)
ImagineTechVerse Live lets a host (the “Grid Master”) run a timed crossword for a group, with players joining on their phones. Unlike the free puzzles, it needs a little information, and these additional terms apply to it.
What we collect
- From the person requesting a pack: name, email address, company or group, the number of games, the expected group size and any note you add.
- From players: the nickname you enter, and during a game the letters in your grid, the time you finish, and the hints you use.
We don’t ask players for an email address or real name; a nickname is enough. No cookies are used. Your browser keeps the Grid Master link in that browser tab only, and a player’s place in their game so a reload doesn’t lose it.
Who sees it
Everyone in a game sees the nicknames, the progress bars and the results on the shared screen and on their phones. The host’s details are seen only by the site owner. The data is stored on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
How long we keep it
A pack and its results are available to the Grid Master for a set time: the number of days in your Grid Master email for a free community pack, or the number of days shown when you bought a paid pack (longer if we extend it). After that the Grid Master link stops working and players’ nicknames are replaced with “Player 1”, “Player 2” and so on. We keep the anonymized game records (puzzles played, times, scores and hints) to improve the puzzles, and the host’s contact details to follow up about Live. We also keep a list of the puzzles each Grid Master has played, under their email address, so that if they get another pack we can show which puzzles they’ve already played. A host can ask us to delete their details at any time by replying to any of our emails.
Emails
We send only the emails needed to run a pack (for example the Grid Master link) from live@imaginetechverse.com; replies to them come to us. Requesting a pack doesn’t sign you up to the newsletter.
Paid packs and payments
Paid packs are sold on our behalf by Link, a service of Stripe, which is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, handles tax, sends your receipt and invoice, and answers payment questions. Your statement shows the charge as LINK.COM*. What you enter at checkout (card or UPI details, billing address) goes to Link and Stripe, not to us, under the Link privacy policy and the Stripe privacy policy.
From a purchase we keep: your name, email address, company or group, country, the pack (games, players, how long it lasts), the amount, currency, tax and any promo code, Stripe’s reference numbers for the checkout and payment, and the country of the card and of the billing address (we compare these with the country you chose, to make sure the right price was paid). We never receive or store card numbers or your billing address.
For a free community pack we also keep your group’s public page (for example its Meetup or LinkedIn page), which we use to check the request.
A paid pack lasts the number of days shown when you bought it. Purchase records are kept for our accounts and taxes. If you ask Link or Stripe to delete your data, they tell us and we delete or anonymize our copy too; you can also ask us directly by replying to any of our emails.
Privacy contact: ImagineTechVerse, myquest.ai@gmail.com. Ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it.
Buying a pack is also covered by our Terms.
Additional terms for Live
- Live is provided as is, as an educational activity. We do our best to keep it running but can’t guarantee it will always be available.
- The Grid Master is responsible for their game: telling players how it works and what’s shown on screen, and removing anyone whose nickname isn’t suitable. Please don’t use Live to collect personal information.
- Keep your Grid Master link private: anyone with it can run your games. If it’s shared by mistake, ask us for a new one; the old one stops working.
- We review every request and may decline one, or end a pack that’s being misused.
- ImagineTechVerse is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon Web Services. Live games are not an official AWS training or certification activity.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services. Like any web host, the infrastructure may process standard technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
